Medieval Magnificence & An Evening of Elegance – Haddon Hall and Wildhive

Today was a celebration of timeless English elegance. Our morning began at Haddon Hall, one of England's most perfectly preserved medieval manor houses and, quite simply, one of the most enchanting places we have ever visited. 

Unlike many stately homes, Haddon Hall has retained an intimate atmosphere that makes you feel less like a visitor and more like an honoured guest. Its medieval kitchens, Tudor long gallery, magnificent banqueting hall and romantic terraced gardens have remained remarkably untouched for centuries. Every stone seemed to whisper stories of noble families, royal visitors and legendary romances. 

It is no surprise that filmmakers from around the world continue to choose Haddon Hall as the backdrop for period dramas. Walking through its ancient corridors felt remarkably cinematic, yet wonderfully authentic. 

Following a relaxed afternoon exploring the estate and gardens, we returned to prepare for one of the most anticipated evenings of the entire tour. 

Black tie. Champagne. Exceptional food. 

Our destination was Wildhive at Callow Hall, where a truly memorable dining experience awaited us. 

From the moment we arrived, every detail reflected understated luxury. Beautiful surroundings, impeccable service and an atmosphere of effortless sophistication created the perfect setting for an unforgettable evening. 

Our multi-course tasting menu celebrated the very best of Derbyshire, showcasing seasonal ingredients with creativity and precision. Every course was thoughtfully paired, beautifully presented and expertly explained, making dinner feel as much an experience as a meal. 

Dressed in black tie and surrounded by new friends, glasses were raised in celebration of another remarkable day together. Laughter echoed through the dining room as stories from the week's adventures were shared, creating memories that will undoubtedly last a lifetime. 

While our talented private chef has delighted us throughout the tour with exceptional dinners each evening, tonight offered something beautifully different - a glamorous finale worthy of the extraordinary places we have experienced together. 

Travel is often measured by hotels or restaurants. We believe it is measured by moments… and today delivered them in abundance!
